What is TytoCare and what problem is it solving?
TytoCare is a virtual healthcare company transforming how people access and experience primary care. Our FDA-cleared device and platform allow patients to perform comprehensive medical exams from home and connect with clinicians who can diagnose and treat remotely. We partner with leading health systems and health plans worldwide to make high-quality care accessible, affordable, and convenient for every family.
TytoCare has already changed the way virtual care is delivered. What makes the new Smart Clinic Companion such a leap forward?
The Smart Clinic Companion is the next chapter in our mission to make the home the true center of healthcare. For years, TytoCare has enabled remote physical exams that match the quality of in-clinic visits. Now we’re taking that foundation of clinical-grade diagnostics and layering on intelligence, a companion that doesn’t just capture health data but interprets it, guides patients through what’s next, points them towards a doctor visit and supports them between visits. It’s like having a primary care partner at home, 24/7.
AI is a big word in healthcare right now. How exactly is TytoCare using it?
There’s a lot of talk about AI, but we’re one of the few companies with the data to truly power it, as this was an integral part of the company’s DNA from its foundation. Our AI is built on over 7 million multi-modal primary care exams, the largest dataset of its kind in the world, spanning lung sounds, ear and throat images, heart recordings, and more. Clinical experts continuously annotate that data to train our Tyto Insights engine. The result is AI that detects abnormal lung sounds such as wheeze, crackle, or rhonchi, and guides patients toward the right next step with clinically validated accuracy.
How will the AI Smart Clinic Companion impact patients and clinicians day-to-day?
For patients, it means faster answers and fewer unnecessary clinic visits. They will be able to perform an exam at home, get guidance, and know when to connect with a clinician. For clinicians, it reduces administrative overload and allows them to focus on what matters most: complex care and relationships. The Smart Clinic Companion will also integrate data from wearables over time, giving a fuller picture of a patient’s health and enabling truly proactive care.
You’ve talked about a primary care crisis. How does this help solve it?
The U.S. is heading toward a shortfall of up to 40,000 primary care physicians by 2036, and 30 percent of Americans already lack access. That’s unsustainable, and unhealthy! Our Smart Clinic Companion bridges that gap by enabling clinical-grade care at home, extending the reach of existing clinicians, and guiding people toward self-care when appropriate. It’s not about replacing doctors. It’s about using technology to let them serve more patients effectively.
Recently TytoCare has earned recognition from the TIME Best Inventions List and others. What’s next for the company?
Our focus is on deepening AI capabilities, expanding integrations with health systems, and continuing to prove that virtual care can deliver equal or better outcomes than traditional care. The ultimate goal is simple: healthcare that’s always on, always accessible, and always intelligent.
